United States President Donald Trump has announced the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife.
Trump made the disclosure on Saturday through a post on his Truth Social platform.
“The United States of America has successfully carried out a large-scale strike against Venezuela and its leader, President Nicolas Maduro, who has been, along with his wife, captured and flown out of the country.
“This operation was done in conjunction with U.S. Law Enforcement. Details to follow. There will be a News Conference today at 11 A.M., at Mar-a-Lago. Thank you for your attention to this matter.”

The announcement comes months after the United States government increased the reward for information leading to Maduro’s arrest to $50 million, citing alleged involvement in international drug trafficking.
In 2020, during Trump’s first term, the United States indicted Maduro alongside several top Venezuelan officials.
Meanwhile, Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel issued a strong condemnation on social media, accusing Washington of launching a “criminal attack” on Venezuela and urging swift international action.
In a post on X, Diaz-Canel said Cuba’s so-called “zone of peace” was being “brutally assaulted,” describing the US move as “state terrorism” targeting not only Venezuela but “Our America” as a whole.
He concluded the message with the revolutionary slogan: “Homeland or Death, We Shall Overcome.”
