President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has held a private meeting with former Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, in Abuja.
The discussion took place at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa on Monday, December 1, 2025.
It marks their first engagement since the former CDS was compelled into retirement by the President on October 24, 2025.
Although the purpose of the meeting has not been revealed, it comes at a time of worsening security concerns in the North, including the kidnapping of schoolgirls in Kebbi, attacks on worshippers in Eruku, Kwara, and the abduction of Catholic schoolchildren in Minna.
Security forces are intensifying counter-terrorism and anti-kidnapping operations across the North-West and North-Central zones.
President Tinubu has declared a nationwide state of emergency on security and directed the enlistment of thousands of new army and police personnel.
The police are expected to recruit 20,000 new officers, increasing their number to 50,000, with National Youth Service Corps camps now serving as training grounds. VIP protection units are also being reassigned to conflict-affected areas following corrective retraining.
The DSS has been empowered to deploy trained forest guards and hire additional personnel to pursue armed groups concealed in forests. “There will be no more hiding places for agents of evil,” Tinubu said in a nationwide address.
