The President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (PBAT) Media Centre has refuted claims that President Tinubu is distributing buses ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to the Centre, the initiative circulating online was carried out solely by the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, an independent support group with no connection to the President or the Presidency.
The statement explained that the Renewed Hope Ambassadors are among several voluntary groups that have supported Tinubu since his campaign and have continuously implemented empowerment activities that promote the Renewed Hope agenda and reinforce ongoing reforms.
The Centre added that although public reactions to the recent development are understandable, the enthusiasm of committed supporters should not be misread or politicised. It stressed that such groups have executed similar projects long before the present economic challenges.
The PBAT Media Centre highlighted key achievements of the Tinubu administration, including GDP growth at 3.98 percent in the last quarter; inflation easing to 16 percent; over 700,000 beneficiaries of the students’ loan scheme within 20 months; and more than ₦30 billion granted in consumer credit to boost purchasing power.
The Centre also noted improved foreign reserves now above 46 billion dollars, major infrastructure projects across all states, including the Lagos Calabar Coastal Highway, Sokoto Badagry Highway and Calabar Abuja Highway, along with full rehabilitation of Murtala Muhammed International Airport. Reforms in the passport and aviation sectors were also mentioned.
Although the Centre admitted the rise in terrorist attacks in Northern Nigeria, it stated that President Tinubu’s administration is tackling national security issues “head on.”
It described attempts to associate the activities of support groups with President Tinubu without evidence as “disingenuous and misleading.”
President Tinubu’s political future is currently being challenged by politicians and opposition members who have formed a coalition party, the African Democratic Congress (ADC), intending to wrest power from him in the 2027 general election. The President has since secured endorsement as the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from several party chapters.
