Jake Paul will be forced to eat through a straw after Anthony Joshua broke his jaw.

Jake Paul suffered a severe injury during his fight with Anthony Joshua on Friday night, and the American has now confirmed that he was required to undergo surgery.

Paul revealed that he will be restricted to liquid meals after having surgery on his broken jaw. The injury was sustained during his loss to Anthony Joshua in Miami on Friday.

The British heavyweight stopped Paul in the sixth round, leaving the American visibly bloodied when the referee stepped in to end the contest.

Posting on social media, Paul later confirmed that corrective surgery had been successful and that he would be unable to eat solid food for at least a week.

He wrote: “Just got out of surgery. Everything went smooth. Thanks for all the love. Lots of pain and stiffness. Gotta eat liquids for 7 days S/o to the amazing team at Miami University hospital. Everyone was so gracious and caring.”

Paul’s update followed an earlier post in which he shared an image of his X-ray, which clearly showed the extent of the damage to his jawbone.

Despite the seriousness of the injury, Paul still appeared eager to secure another fight. Alongside the image, he wrote: “Double broken jaw. Give me Canelo in 10 days.”

Jake Paul shows off broken jaw as he is told career could be over.

Due to the injury, Paul was unable to attend his post-fight media obligations and did not appear at the press conference. However, Nikisa Bidarian, the chief executive of Paul’s promotional company, Most Valuable Promotions, said: “He’s fine. He drove himself to the hospital. A broken jaw’s very common in sports, particularly in boxing or MMA.

“I think the recovery time from the doctors and surgeons we’ve already talked to is four to six weeks.”

Paul later offered his own perspective during an interview, saying: “I’m feeling good, that was fun. I love this sport. I gave it my all… I had a blast. Anthony’s a great fighter, I got my ass beat but that’s what this sport’s about.”
