A Nigerian lady has reportedly been arrested for receiving a money bouquet on Valentine’s Day, triggering reactions online.

In a video that has since circulated widely, a police officer is seen confiscating the cash bouquet from the woman before leading her into a waiting minibus.

A voice in the background of the clip is heard saying, “They just arrest person who received a money bouquet, now,” though no further details about the incident were provided.

However, authorities is yet to confirm the development as of press time.

The arrest comes amid a recent directive banning the use of naira notes for decorative purposes, especially during celebrations like Valentine’s Day.

The ban covers practices such as money bouquets and other displays where banknotes are folded or shaped for gifting.

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) had earlier warned that such acts amount to defacing the national currency and could attract penalties under existing laws.

“The Naira is a symbol of our nation and must be treated with respect,” the bank said in a statement. “Using money as decorations diminishes its dignity.”

Authorities have cautioned that anyone found violating the directive risks arrest and possible prosecution.
