Nigeria, US Security Cooperation Delivers Precision Strikes on Terror Targets

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has reaffirmed that Nigerian authorities remain actively engaged in structured security cooperation with international partners, including the United States of America, to confront the ongoing threat of terrorism and violent extremism. This collaboration has resulted in precision air strikes against terrorist targets in Nigeria’s North West.

Consistent with established international practice and bilateral agreements, the cooperation involves intelligence sharing, strategic coordination, and other forms of support in line with international law, respect for sovereignty, and shared commitments to regional and global security.

Nigeria restates that all counter-terrorism operations are guided by the priority of protecting civilian lives, preserving national unity, and upholding the rights and dignity of all citizens, regardless of faith or ethnicity. Terrorist violence in any form—whether targeting Christians, Muslims, or other communities—remains an assault on Nigeria’s core values and a threat to international peace and security.

The Federal Government continues to collaborate closely with its partners through recognised diplomatic and security channels to weaken terrorist networks, disrupt their funding and logistics, and prevent cross-border threats, while also strengthening Nigeria’s security institutions and intelligence capabilities.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirms it “will maintain engagement with relevant partners and keep the public informed through appropriate official channels.”
