An Islamic cleric from Ilorin, Kwara State, has stirred conversations online following a new video he posted.
In the clip, the cleric confidently asserts that bandits will never gain access to Ilorin despite rising insecurity across Nigeria.
Speaking beside a fellow cleric, he insisted that bandits cannot enter Ilorin because the city enjoys spiritual protection.
He explained that continuous complete Qur’an recitations are held throughout Ilorin by prominent Islamic scholars, adding that the city is spiritually fortified by both past and present sheikhs.
He maintained that although bandits may infiltrate some areas of Kwara State, they can never penetrate Ilorin, stressing that ongoing prayers are being offered to keep them away from the state entirely.
As expected, the video of the Ilorin-based cleric discussing bandits has drawn widespread online commentary.
@Fillipo_Saga shared; “This is how senseless people attract wrath upon their people.”
@DiabloChaze commented; “Na like this them dey deceive yahoo boys too ooo 🤦♂️.”
@Eze_Ndi_Eze spills; “He shouldn’t forget that Ilorin was originally a Yoruba land before it was conquered by Muslims. Ilorin now has a Fulani Emir instead of an Oba. So, where was the spiritual protection when the Fulani conquered Ilorin? He should go and learn history.”
@qoseem_kayode remarked; “Na so Kwara people too go swear say them no fit enter Kwara, e think say bandit sef dae work with ordinary eye.”
@ddtoluwani added; “Why people de do like this eh, wahala de sleep you wan wake am.”
