iDeemlawfulThe Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has identified 41 properties allegedly linked to Abubakar Malami, a former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice.
According to TheCable, the assets — including hotels, residential structures, parcels of land, schools and a printing press — are located across Kebbi State, Kano State and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The properties situated in Kebbi are estimated to be worth N162,195,950,000, while those in Kano are valued at N16,011,800,000, with the FCT assets put at N34,685,000,000.
Most of the assets were reportedly acquired during Malami’s eight-year tenure in office.
The federal government has also instituted a 16-count charge bordering on money laundering against the former minister and his son, Abdulaziz Malami.
Both father and son are accused of offences allegedly committed in violation of Sections 15, 18 and 21 of the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act.
