‘Daddy, Why Can’t You Stand?’ Yinka Ayefele Shares Emotional Moment with Triplets

Popular Nigerian gospel singer, Yinka Ayefele, has spoken about a deeply emotional conversation he recently had with his triplets concerning the accident that left him in a wheelchair.

The singer, who welcomed his triplets — Richard, Raymond, and Eniola — in January 2019, shared the touching moment in a video posted on his Instagram page today, December 12th, 2025.

The children, now six years old, were seen surrounding their father as they innocently asked why he was unable to stand or walk.

Ayefele said his children entered his room early that morning and began praying earnestly for him to rise and walk. The heartfelt scene brought him to tears as he reflected on the tragic event that transformed his life.

According to Ayefele, the accident occurred on December 12, 1997, leaving him with injuries that have prevented him from walking for nearly three decades. However, he assured his children that he remains hopeful that he will walk again someday.

The emotional moment continued as his son Richard sought to understand what happened. Ayefele explained that he had been driving when his vehicle flipped several times on a slippery road before landing in a deep pit in the bush.

See their exchange below;

Richard: Daddy, how can you not stand?

Yinka Ayefele: “I cannot stand because I had an accident.”

Richard: “Tell me the accident.”

Yinka Ayefele: “I should tell you the accident.”

Richard: Yes

Yinka Ayefele: “Ah, it has been long, it is a motor accident.”

Richard: “Motto”

Yinka Ayefele: “Yes, a motor car accident.”

Richard: “Tell me.”

Yinka Ayefele, “I should tell you. It was on December 12, 1997.”

Richard: “Was it Christmas.”

Yinka Ayefele “Yes, almost around this time.”

Yinka Ayefele, “You are not happy because I cannot walk.”

Richard: “Nodded, meaning yes.”

Yinka Ayefele: “Don’t worry, I will be fine”

Yinka Ayefele : “You said you wanted to ask me another question.”

Richard said: “No, just a question, why can you not stand?”

Yinka Ayefele, “I still believe I am going to walk, do you want me to walk?”

Richard said, “Yes”

Raymond also asked: “Why can you not walk”

Richard, who has been in conversation with his dad said “Was bicyle coming?”

Yinka Ayefele said, “No, I was the one driving, but the road was slippery, so that was how
my can tumbled, like 6 times and it ended in a deep pit inside the bush.”

The gospel singer who owns Fresh FM wrote; “MY TRIPLET KEPT ASKING ME THIS SAME QUESTION UP TILL THIS MORNING. ..THEY CAME TO MY ROOM VERY EARLY IN THE MORNING AND STARTED PRAYING THAT THEY WANT THEIR DADDY TO STAND UP AND WALK…I WAS SO EMOTIONAL AND I STARTED…..😭😭😭 BUT AM STILL TRUSTING GOD ON HIS PROMISES. JUST KEEP ON THANKING GOD WITH ME.”

TikTok Blocks Late-Night LIVE Streaming for Nigerian Users

ideemlawful profile1iDeemlawful December 8, 2025
ideemlawful profile1iDeemlawful

TikTok has temporarily limited access to its LIVE feature for users in Nigeria during late-night hours, notifying creators in-app as part of what it called an ongoing safety review.

At midnight Nigerian time on Sunday, the platform issued a system prompt stating, “LIVE⚫ Notices
TikTok LIVE Update in Nigeria
We’re temporarily limiting LIVE late at night in Nigeria as part of our investigation to ensure our platform remains safe and our community stays protected.”

Checks showed that LIVE broadcasts, which had been running earlier, were disabled from 11pm to 5am, with affected profiles displaying a “No Access” tag.

The restriction also blocked creators from viewing LIVE sessions hosted outside Nigeria.

Only creators who met the 1,000-follower threshold required to host LIVE broadcasts received the message.

Several confirmed that all LIVE activity had been suspended overnight.

Despite the interruption, creators who earn through LIVE gifting retained their balances and previous payouts, easing concerns about income losses.

By Monday morning, LIVE access had resumed, triggering widespread online discussions as users debated the reason behind the nationwide restriction.

Night-time typically marks peak engagement for Nigerian streamers who host game nights, entertainment shows, trends, and other interactive sessions that draw viewers and virtual gifts.

The development follows TikTok’s release of updated safety data for West Africa.

During its West Africa Safety Summit in Dakar, Senegal, the platform disclosed that in the second quarter of 2025 it acted against 2,321,813 LIVE sessions and 1,040,356 LIVE creators globally for breaching LIVE Monetisation policies.

In Nigeria alone, 49,512 LIVE sessions were removed during the same period.

TikTok also reported taking down 3,780,426 videos in Nigeria between April and June 2025 for violating Community Guidelines, with 98.7% removed before being viewed and 91.9% pulled within 24 hours.

TikTok LIVE enables users to stream in real time, encouraging direct interaction through comments and virtual gifts, unlike pre-recorded content, creating engagement for Q&As, performances, or casual chats.

To go LIVE, users typically need at least 1,000 followers, must be 16 or older (18 to earn), maintain a clean account, and tap the ‘+’ button to select ‘LIVE’, add a title and effects, and begin streaming.

Awujale Throne Bid: Next-In-Line Ruling House Makes Crucial Demand From KWAM 1

ideemlawful profile1iDeemlawful December 7, 2025
ideemlawful profile1iDeemlawful

The Fusengbuwa ruling house of Ijebu-Ode, next in line to present the new Awujale of Ijebuland, Ogun State, has instructed popular Fuji musician, Wasiu Ayinde, widely known as KWAM 1, to complete the family’s royal lineage data form to authenticate his rightful membership in the ruling house.

The Chairman of the ruling house and former National President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, Abdulateef Owoyemi, told Sunday PUNCH on Saturday that only verified members of the family would be permitted to take part in the selection procedure.

Ayinde, in a letter dated December 3, 2025, and addressed to the chairman of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House in Agunsebi Quarters, Ijebu-Ode, formally stated his interest in the stool.

The Fuji star referred to himself as a “bonafide son” of the ruling house, asserting that his aspiration complies with Ijebu customary law and the Ogun State Chieftaincy Laws.

The letter circulated widely on social media on Friday, generating varying reactions from the public.

However, Owoyemi noted that the Olori Omooba of Ijebuland had been instructed to complete the Fusengbuwa ruling house royal lineage data form.

He emphasised that the form, which requires aspirants to trace their ancestry through seven generations, is designed to ensure that only true princes from the lineage can participate, effectively preventing “strangers” from seeking the throne.

He said, “The first step for anyone interested in contesting for the Awujale throne is to declare their lineage by filling the standard Fusengbuwa ruling house royal lineage data form. Once confirmed as a legitimate member of the ruling house, they can then apply for the expression of interest form.

“We have told him, just like everyone else interested in the Awujale throne, that the first step is to declare his lineage. He will do this by completing the royal lineage data form, showing his full name, which parent and grandparent he descends from, and continuing up to seven generations.

“The completed form will be signed and submitted to the head of the ruling house unit of the Fusengbuwa ruling house, who will affirm that he is a genuine member. Only then will the process move forward.”

Although the application period for the throne officially ended on December 5, Owoyemi said KWAM 1 had been granted an additional five days, which expires on December 10.

“We won’t shut anybody out of picking the next Awujale, but we must ensure that you are a legitimate member of Fusengbuwa. Every right comes with responsibilities. For a royal family, everyone must prove their legitimacy by completing the royal lineage data form.

“When we receive the form, we will review it meticulously. If clarification is needed, we will contact the applicant. We welcome men of influence who will use their influence to enhance the throne, not to claim it, ensuring that what truly belongs to our family is preserved,” he said.

Owoyemi explained that the ruling house hoped to have a new Awujale by the second or third week of January 2026.

“The local government has given us 14 days to select candidates, which expires on December 18. After that, the kingmakers have seven days to deliberate and choose one candidate, whose name will be forwarded to the governor.

“Legally, the government then has 21 days to conduct background checks and security clearance, allowing for objections or protests. After this period, the State Executive Council will ratify the nominee, and the governor will announce the next Awujale, after which coronation rites will commence.

“So, combining the candidate selection, kingmakers’ deliberation, and legal objection period, we are looking at around 42 days. Therefore, we expect the next Awujale to emerge between the second and third week of January,” Owoyemi said.

Kwara Cleric Boasts Bandits Cannot Penetrate Ilorin

ideemlawful profile1iDeemlawful

An Islamic cleric from Ilorin, Kwara State, has stirred conversations online following a new video he posted.

In the clip, the cleric confidently asserts that bandits will never gain access to Ilorin despite rising insecurity across Nigeria.

Speaking beside a fellow cleric, he insisted that bandits cannot enter Ilorin because the city enjoys spiritual protection.

He explained that continuous complete Qur’an recitations are held throughout Ilorin by prominent Islamic scholars, adding that the city is spiritually fortified by both past and present sheikhs.

He maintained that although bandits may infiltrate some areas of Kwara State, they can never penetrate Ilorin, stressing that ongoing prayers are being offered to keep them away from the state entirely.

As expected, the video of the Ilorin-based cleric discussing bandits has drawn widespread online commentary.

@Fillipo_Saga shared; “This is how senseless people attract wrath upon their people.”

@DiabloChaze commented; “Na like this them dey deceive yahoo boys too ooo 🤦‍♂️.”

@Eze_Ndi_Eze spills; “He shouldn’t forget that Ilorin was originally a Yoruba land before it was conquered by Muslims. Ilorin now has a Fulani Emir instead of an Oba. So, where was the spiritual protection when the Fulani conquered Ilorin? He should go and learn history.”

@qoseem_kayode remarked; “Na so Kwara people too go swear say them no fit enter Kwara, e think say bandit sef dae work with ordinary eye.”

@ddtoluwani added; “Why people de do like this eh, wahala de sleep you wan wake am.”

In the end, the cleric’s emphatic remarks have ignited strong debate, with some interpreting his position as an expression of deep faith, while others describe it as a risky claim amid a fragile security climate.

A video now circulating widely online shows a bandit leader accidentally shot by his own men during a moment of celebration.

In an unexpected twist fueled by excitement, the bandit leader was acc!dentally shøt by members of his group.

The incident comes amid a surge in insecurity across Nigeria, where kidnappings continue to affect both young and old, especially in the northern region.

Bandit attacks have further deepened insecurity in Kwara, Kebbi, Niger, and Kogi states, leaving many dead, several abducted, and entire communities living in fear.

The escalating violence has pushed the federal government to ramp up military operations and aerial surveillance across forest corridors connecting the affected states, even as residents demand lasting solutions to the crisis.

However, many Nigerians have expressed excitement after seeing the video capturing the moment the bandit leader was shot by his own men. See reactions and the video below;

The viral footage has since sparked mixed reactions, with many Nigerians viewing the incident as a form of divine justice amid the deepening security crisis.

A new clip is circulating online showing the moment a female corper breaks down after being posted to a location where she is expected to manage a cemetery.

The distressed corps member in the viral video said she pleaded with officials to change her posting, but her appeal was rejected.

In her words; “I’m the first female corper to serve in a cemetery as a manager. I begged them to reject me but they refuse. Who am I supposed to manage in a cemetery?”

Her outcry quickly triggered a mix of sympathy and amusement, with many Nigerians questioning the unusual placement and wondering how such a role exists within the NYSC scheme.

The unexpected assignment has left many both amused and puzzled, with several users asking why a cemetery would require a “manager” under NYSC.

Others expressed concern for the young lady, noting that the posting was frightening and highly unconventional, especially for someone serving away from home. See reactions and the video below;

Muslim Group Demands Netflix Ban Over “The Herd,” Movie Amid Rising Insecurity

ideemlawful profile1iDeemlawful November 23, 2025
ideemlawful profile1iDeemlawful

A group of Nigerian Muslims has begun a campaign urging that Netflix be prohibited and its services withdrawn over the platform’s streaming of the movie “The Herd.”

The film, which depicts the frequent abductions of innocent Nigerians by Fulani herdsmen and bandits, has triggered backlash from sections of the audience. On social media platform X (formerly Twitter), users are calling on others to remove the Netflix app from their devices as a form of protest.

The movement highlights rising concerns about media depictions of delicate national issues and raises broader discussions about the line between artistic expression and public responsibility.

Note that Nollywood actor Daniel Etim-Effiong makes his directorial debut with the Netflix movie, “The Herd,” which was released on Friday, November 17th, 2025 and has generated over 30M views.

Sharing the snippet of the movie on Instagram, NaijaonNetflix wrote, “One minute they’re celebrating love, the next they’re fighting for their lives. The Herd is now playing on Netflix.”

The above clips from the Netflix movie, “The Herd” by actor Daniel Etim-Effiong, did not resonate well with muslims as they demanded the Netflix app be banned, while some internet users voiced different views, insisting the film mirrors the present conditions in Nigeria.

@Fulani_Tutor said; “Ban Netflix Ban the herd Delete Netflix in your phone As a Muslim you have no business with this movie. Ban Netflix.”

Former President Buhari aide, @BashirAhmaad commented, “The reason why some Arewa people are angry about The Herd movie is not because we are denying the reality of banditry, far from it. It is about the dangerous consequences of profiling an entire ethnic group and region that has already suffered immensely from years of insecurity.

I watched the teaser on @NetflixNaija , and even though I haven’t watched the full movie yet, the one clear problem that stands out is stereotyping. In the teaser, Fulani herders are shown crossing the road with their cattle, while a newlywed couple inside a car and other travellers drive by, then suddenly the herdsmen pull out guns, start shooting indiscriminately and kidnap everyone. This single scene paints a picture that is actually facile as it is dangerously inaccurate.

The truth is this, it is true and verifiable that some of the bandits terrorizing innocent people and our communities are Fulani. We have consistently and openly acknowledged that, called them out, condemned their atrocities and demanded that authorities deal with them mercilessly. Yet the overwhelming majority of Fulani herders are innocent and also among the very victims that have suffered the most from these terrorists.

Many have lost their cattle, their livelihoods and their families. So producing a movie to profile them all as armed kidnappers only reinforces a harmful stereotype that fuels suspicion, resentment and even violence against innocent people. Film and media carry immense influence, they shape global perceptions and frame narratives, especially about communities that are poorly understood outside their regions. Instead of the producers of The Herd helping the world understand the complexity of Nigeria’s insecurity, the movie falls into the trap of blanket judgment.

When such an international movie, portrays a one-dimensional story, millions of viewers around the world walk away believing that every Fulani herder is a terrorist and that is how stigma is created. That is how innocent people become targets of discrimination and harassment. Before producing a film that touches on such a sensitive and complex national issue, the producers should have done intensive field work by engaging stakeholders, security experts, victims, researchers and even representatives of pastoralist groups to help them capture the full picture of the situation.

I believe @AliNuhu ’s Nigerian Film Corporation should have given proper guidance to prevent such damaging portrayals. In the end, all we are saying is simple, tell the story. Condemn the criminals. Call out the terrorists. But do not cast a shadow of suspicion over millions of innocent herders who have nothing to do with these atrocities. Our country is dealing with a complex security challenge and the last thing we need is media content that deepens stereotypes and fuels more division. The producers should have known better.”

azeez__abdul remarked; “Continue with your hate on Muslims in Nigeria! We don’t care about your hatred and propaganda! Why not put more effort on your self and your religion instead of trying everything possible to tarnish the image of a particular religion and people! There are good and bad people in every tribe and religion! You will never find a Muslim playing such game, The west have tried for centuries and failed and has backfired by educating so many misinformed society.”

sirminzy wrote; “I genuinely don’t understand why a certain group is angry that this movie reflects the current realities of Nigeria. Are filmmakers supposed to lie or pretend these issues don’t exist? it’s very clear that the film draws from Nigeria’s past and present security situation. The purpose of storytelling especially in drama is to reflect society. Creators draw ideas from history, present realities, inspirations, dreams, and personal experiences. With that in mind, it becomes clear why The Herd was made the way it is. The film mirrors Nigeria’s current security challenges, which is a valid and long-standing source of artistic inspiration. You can’t accuse a movie of “misrepresentation” when it mirrors events the whole country has witnessed. The movie is not attacking an entire ethnic group. It is addressing a national security crisis. Something that affects all of us regardless of tribe. The movie will nt be cancelled. It dropped at d perfect time and it’s sparking the exact conversations drama is meant to inspire Drama has always been a powerful tool for telling the truth, boldly, honestly, and without fear or favor. If the truth makes some people uncomfortable, maybe that’s the wake-up call we need. Art is supposed to challenge, provoke, and reflect reality, not sanitize it. The Herd is a mirror. If what you see in that mirror bothers you, the solution isn’t to break the mirror. It’s to fix the reality being reflected.”

Food influencer, Opeyemi Famakin uttered; “The best PR Daniel Etim would ever get. Lol, weyrey say Ban Netflix 😂😂😂 you people are funny in this country.”

jbourdy spills, “I cried and cried. Haaa @etimeffiong hmmm. Sadly, this is the Nigeria we live in currently. Well done sir. Beautiful acting. I won’t wish this experience on my enemy though.”

Actress Uche Jombo noted; “The timing of THE HERD Netflix release is perfect for what we are currently experiencing as a country! Watch it please! This situation is just so heartbreaking 💔 How did we get here Nigeria?”

Social media commentator, Daniel Regha tweeted; “The Herd” movie is a poor attempt in trying to represent our reality in Nigeria. While the movie can be praised for its visuals and cinematography, the film pushes negative sterotypes, has a poor storyline, and ending.

  1. Negative sterotypes: -The movie portrays the Hausas as bandits, and Yorubas as accomplice, as those were the only languages spoken by the criminals. This gives the impression that certain crimes is based on ethnicity or region. -The movie portrays the Igbos as egoistic, and naive people. Gosi’s parents, and the Igbo abducted victims shows that. -The church was also portrayed as an accomplice to the insecurity issue we face. -And lastly, the police, who abandoned the search for other victims after rescuing just two shows gross incompetence.
  2. Errors in the movie: -Habiba instructed that the ransom be dropped off in a location in Kogi, but Adamma dropped the money in Ekiti. -The Igbo victims were plotting their escape using Igbo dialect, and Habiba claimed to overhear ’em in English, meanwhile she only showed up after they discussed in Igbo. -The bandits claimed that the victims didn’t know Habiba could understand English, meanwhile in the movie, Habiba demanded ransom in Gosi’s presence speaking English. And the was before the plotting scene. -The police contacted everyone asides Adamma, then magically shows up when it’s time to pay ransom. -The couple stepped out of their venue without either the bridesmaid or best man? Impossible. -Gosi had enough time to make a turn, and didn’t. -The groom (Fola) was shot from the back, and the camera showed him getting hit from the front. -The ransom collector that got shot in the head during the last fight scene had time to react slowly, with multiple face expressions. -The movie also gives the impression that bandits are understanding or considerate.
  3. The movie also has quite a poor ending: -What happened to the other victims? -No consequence for Gosi after defrauding his company. -Were the other bandits eliminated? The movie has no moral lessons, and failed to address any pressing issue we face. It’s a 2/10. No offense.”

"The Herd" movie is a poor attempt in trying to represent our reality in Nigeria. While the movie can be praised for its visuals and cinematography, the film pushes negative sterotypes, has a poor storyline, and ending.
