Dangote Refinery has announced a ₦100 per litre increase in the retail price of Premium Motor Spirit nationwide.

The company made this known in a statement issued on Monday.

According to the statement, the refinery’s gantry price for petrol now stands at ₦799 per litre, while the retail pump price has risen to ₦839 per litre, compared with the ₦699 and ₦739 per litre sold since December last year.

“Under the current alignment, the PMS gantry price is ₦799 per litre, while MRS retail outlets are selling at ₦839 per litre,” the company stated.

The Chief Executive Officer of Dangote Petroleum Refinery, David Bird, said the facility continues to supply the domestic market with about 50 million litres of PMS daily, adding that nationwide evacuation and distribution remain uninterrupted.

It would be recalled that Dangote Refinery had resorted to petrol imports to boost supply capacity amid downtime at its Residual Fluid Catalytic Cracker (RFCC), according to Kpler.

As of Monday night, several retail filling stations, including those operated by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, were dispensing petrol at prices ranging between ₦805 and ₦830 per litre.

However, the latest adjustment by Dangote Refinery is expected to trigger a broader petrol price hike across the downstream sector.

Recall also that Aliko Dangote, president of the refinery, stated in December last year that the ₦739 per litre retail price would be maintained nationwide to edge out fuel importers.

During a briefing with journalists on Sunday, December 14, Dangote said, “We don’t want people to sell petrol for more than ₦740 nationwide.”

It would also be recalled that in December 2025, Dangote Refinery released a nationwide hotline for consumers to report MRS Oil Nigeria Plc filling stations selling petrol above the approved pump price of ₦739 per litre.
