Security operatives have apprehended a suspected Kwara bandit who allegedly posed as a beggar in Igbaja, Ifelodun Local Government Area of the state.
Elder Oyin Zubair, Coordinator of the Joint Security Watch for Kwara South Senatorial District, confirmed the arrest to SaharaReporters on Wednesday.
He stated that the suspect attempted to move across communities unnoticed by blending in as a beggar.
“The suspect was caught disguised as a beggar in Igbaja. This is part of a disturbing trend we have noticed,” Elder Zubair said.

“They can also pretend to be mad men in certain areas. It is a tactic they use to escape law enforcement.”
The suspect reportedly disclosed the locations of his sponsors, alleging they operate from Kaara Market, Ajasepo, and Olayinka near Oke-Ode.
He further told security operatives that their sponsors are based in Kaara Market, Ajasepo, and Olayinka. “They are the ones directing our movements.”
The suspect has since been transferred to the Kwara State Anti-Kidnapping Squad, with authorities assuring prompt action.
The arrest follows intelligence suggesting that some bandits from Baba Sango and Oro-Ago are dispersing from their hideouts into other areas of Kwara South.
Security sources indicated that the criminals have been using informants disguised as beggars to monitor communities before launching attacks or abductions.
