iDeemlawfulThe Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has identified the use of “money bouquets” as an act of naira abuse, placing it alongside offences such as spraying, squeezing, selling and defacing the national currency.
Under the CBN Act, anyone found mishandling the naira is liable to a minimum of six months’ imprisonment or a fine of not less than ₦50,000.
Citizens have been advised to safeguard the naira and report violations as enforcement authorities intensify crackdowns on offenders across the country.
The development comes as Valentine’s Day approaches, with the 2026 celebration set for February 14, 2026.
